Dr. Jenna Carpenter, the Associate Dean for Administration and Strategic Initiatives and the Wayne and Juanita Spinks Professor of Mathematics in the College of Engineering and Science at Louisiana Tech University. During this Ted Talk Dr. Carpenter discusses the gender inequality in STEM from the beginning of children's lives all the way to when they are adults navigating the career landscape. Pink Lego intends to use the #EmpowerPinkBricks campaign in order to uplift and support the growth of women in STEM.
Lego aids in building essential skills in STEM such as creativity, problem-solving, fine motor skills, spatial reasoning, mathematics, and so much more. As discussed by Dr, Carpenter there are so many things about the STEM field that turns girls away before they can even succeed. Pink Lego aims to close that gap and and provide a space where women and girls can be confident and comfortable while existing in STEM.
